Fonte al Vento is placed among the green landscape of Tuscany, takes its name from the surrounding area, which in Roman times was known as the Area of Water Sources. We could not therefore deprive our guests of the pleasures of water and so we’ve installed two outdoor pools.

The first, with respect to tradition, has classic Roman steps and is surrounded by a large lawn/terrace with stunning view over the Val di Chiana. The second, and more contemporary one, is an infinity pool with a never-ending view over Mount Sant’Egidio and the incredible Monastery of the Capuchins. Fonte al Vento is just a few steps from the Chiesa Monumentale di Santa Maria Nuova and Cortona’s Old Town, which can be reached in a few moments on a scenic walk.

Philosophy

Fonte al Vento was born as a carefully thought out and well organised recovery plan in 2010 that was oriented towards the urban redevelopment and landscaping of the entire property.

Maintaining the morphology of the territory, the agriturismo was built with full respect for the terraces that characterize the picturesque hills of Cortona. We used eco-friendly and recycled materials that, wherever possible, came from the dig site, such as “pietra serena” used on the facade, which is thought to be the same type used in the construction of the adjacent Chiesa Monumentale di Santa Maria Nuova in the sixteenth century by famous architects Vasari and Cristofanello.
